How to complete Ticket Data Coding
Coded ticket data allows our system to provide powerful insight and analysis
There are two ways to manage Ticket data coding: in-app via the UI interface, or in an excel-based coding file. The UI will allow you to make quick, agile adjustments, whilst the excel file allows you to code large volumes of ticket data in one go. Both of these methods can be accessed via the Event Table.
Identifying Events with uncoded values
When navigating through the Event table, you will see red flags next to some Event titles. This is an indicator to show that there are uncoded values within the ticket data for that event.
To remove these flags, please ensure that the Transaction Type and Ticket Price Type fields have been coded or confirmed.
Using the UI interface
To code directly within the app, select the event or performance you wish to work on, and select the button labelled 'Code tickets for X events'. This will generate a pop-up window in which you can code your data.
At the top of the window you'll see a ticket graphic containing values from your raw data.
This is showing the Ticket group that you are currently coding data for.
Below the ticket, you will be able to see the number of tickets contained with the group, and their value.
At the bottom of the window are drop down boxes containing the currently coded values. You can click on these and select from the available options to change them.
Once you’ve updated a ticket group, you can queue the changes using the “Queue Changes” button, then move through other groups using the “Next” and “Previous” buttons. When all edits are complete, click “Submit Changes” to save your work.
Using the Excel File
If you find it more convenient to work in Excel, you also have the option to generate a downloadable coding file. This can be helpful for coding events with large volumes of ticket groups or for coding entire seasons at once.
Select the relevant events from the Events table, or navigate to the Season view and select an entire Season, then click “Download Ticket Coding File” from the bottom of the table. The system will create a spreadsheet pre-populated with your raw data and the currently coded values. This can be edited offline and uploaded back into the system via the 'Manage Data Coding' portal.
