Why is race and ethnicity data no longer available?

You may have noticed that ethnicity and race demographic information is no longer available in certain tools and reports within Data Center. This change is the result of recent federal legislation affecting how third-party data providers can share and store demographic information.

What has happened
On October 17, 2025, the Protecting Americans’ Data from Foreign Adversaries Act (PADFA, 15 U.S.C. 9901) came into effect. In response, major U.S. data aggregators have restricted access to ethnicity and race information across their systems. As our demographic data feeds are sourced from these third-party providers, this change has automatically affected the availability of this information within our tools.

What this means for you
You will notice the absence of ethnicity and race fields when filtering, appending demographic data, or viewing reports. All other demographic and transactional data remain unaffected.

Next steps
We are actively developing a compliant alternative using postal-code heat mapping and census-based datasets to provide comparable insights while maintaining full compliance with federal regulations. Updates and guidance on this replacement feature will be shared with users as soon as it becomes available.
