What do I do in the Segments module?
The Segments module is a single stop to see the segmented data in your account. You can use Segments to edit existing segments, modify trade visibility and list interaction, create segment groups or custom segments depending on your account access.
Segments is not used to create a mailing list or trade requests. Go to Campaigns to create a mailing list or research list.
A complete description appears in the Segment column. At right you'll see the patron count, which is the non de duplicated count. Begin typing the text in the search field and data center begins searching. Use the filter arrows below the search box to search by year, segment type or trade visibility. Click in the box at the left of any segment or segments to modify for trade Visibility and Auto approve.
Click the Trade settings drop down and make your selections. Then click the Deselect button or uncheck each segment and your changes are saved. At the right of the segment, you'll see an Edit button. Click the Edit button to see key details about that segment or to modify the segment year description or type. Any segment with an open edit box for the segment year, segment type or segment description can be modified.
The Edit view also permits modification of auto Add and Trade settings.Segments created automatically will not be editable, and you'll see a note for that segment. You can create a segment group of your own data from the Segments page. You might also have the option to create a custom segment of your own data depending on your account settings.
To create a segment group, click on the Create Segment menu and select Segment Group. The new Segment Group dialogue opens. Click on the Add Segments button to search for your segments. You can now search for and select segments to be included in the segment group. Again, you can search by text or filter by year and type. Just like the segment's landing page. This method only shows your own data.
Trade data is not searchable from the segment's module. When you select segments, the Add Segments button becomes active. Select all the segments you want to include in the group. Click the Add Segments button. When you've made your selections, you'll see the selected segments together as part of the group. Now you need to name the segment to save it. Click the Save Segment Group button to name the segment.
Segment Year and Type are default settings based on segment selections. The segment year will show a single year if only one year was selected. Likewise, the segment type will show the specific type only if a single segment type was selected. You must enter a unique description for the segment in the description field. You can apply a multi filter to the segments within the group.
The Multi filter appears below the Description field and applies only to the segments in the group. You can also select Trade Visibility and Auto Add as needed. Once you've made your selections, click the Save Segment Group button to add the new segment group to your account. You can always edit your segment groups by clicking on the Edit button. You can add or remove segments to the group under Included Segments. Click on the Group Settings link to modify the description, multi filter, auto add, and trade visibility.
