What is Data Coding?

Understanding Data Coding files

🔶 Contextual Data

The contextual data populates column A. Here you will find the values taken directly from your CRM. These values will not change when you apply new coded values.

In this section you will find:

Fund Name The name of the fund.

🔶 Changeable Data

The Changeable Data contains both current and updatable coding cells, and populates columns B and C. The Current Value columns contain the current coding values — these may have been populated automatically by the system, taken directly from your data, or created manually by a user.

New Fund Name

🗝️ This is a key field and must be completed to use the Donation Tool.

This field is automatically populated with the values from your system. Any coded values you apply will appear in the Donation Tool.

Tip - take this opportunity to standardize your fund names. Try removing references to season, year, or day of the week. Aim to keep only the most relevant information and standardise it across all seasons — this will make your data easier to analyse in the future.
