What is Data Coding?

Understanding Data Coding files

🔶 Contextual Data

The contextual data populates columns the first columns of the file. Here you will find the values taken directly from your CRM. These values will not change when you apply new coded values.

In this section you will find

Perf Date The date that the performance took place.
Perf Name The performance name. This field is only applicable to some ticketing systems, which allow performances to have a separate name to the event they relate to. For example, "Snow White" the event may have a performance named "Snow White - Press Night" within it.
Perf Code The performance code from your ticketing system. These can either be numeric IDs assigned automatically by your ticketing system, or alphanumeric codes chosen by you, depending on which system you use.
Season Name The name of the season. Where available, this field will be populated from your ticketing system.
Tickets The total number of tickets sold for the Performance
Revenue The total revenue for the Performance
Capacity The maximum number of seats that it is possible to sell for this Performance. For a seated venue, this will reference the number of seats within your venue, plus any Lap Seats or General Admission areas.

🔶 Changeable Data

The Changeable Data contains both current and updatable coding cells, and populates the final columns of the file. The 'Current Value' columns contain the current coding values - these may have been populated automatically by the system, taken directly from you data or created manually by a user.

Tip: If you complete Event and Package coding first, the fields "Is Core Program," "Season Year," "Venue Name," and "Series" will auto-populate with your previous coded values.

See --- and --- for more information about those fields.

🔹Seat Config

This field can be manually applied to indicate the seating configuration that was applied to the venue for this performance.

Examples include Thrust, End on, In The Round, Cabaret Tables, Standing, etc. Mainly applicable to flexible venues which can be reconfigured.

🔹Performance Type

This field is used to identify special types of performance, like Press or Industry Nights, public Dress Rehearsals, or performances with accessible services like Audio Description or Sign Language Interpretation.

🔹Selling Status

This field auto-populates based on sales patterns in your data to identify whether the performance is on sale, cancelled, postponed, and more.

When dealing with system-coded values (yellow), you should always double-check, as your organization may categorize data differently to TRG.

🔹Is Education

This field populates automatically and describes performances where the majority of the audience is comprised of educational/school groups.

This field is not designed to be used to identify workshops, classes, etc. For these instances, the "Is Core Program" field should be set to FALSE.
