We’re in limbo. Coming up on nearly a year of canceled performances, it also means many (not all) but many of our patrons are in this limbo with us – waiting for things to change so they can engage the way they used to.
Given the catastrophic effects of the pandemic on the sector in 2020, the trends are intended to provide clarity and guidance to arts and culture executives and managers for strategic planning to revitalize and reimagine their organizations during the coming year.
In November 2020 performing arts organizations in the United States witnessed their worst month yet for ticket sales since the outbreak of COVID-19. Compared to November 2019, ticket revenues fell 96.3%. In the United Kingdom, comparative sales were down 84.6%. This was a marked improvement over October 2020 (down 90.1%) and the best performance for comparative sales since March 2020.
